During Middle Ages or in today’s world women have more freedom and choices when it comes to dressing. Despite this well known fact, in feudal system they had to follow rules laid by the ruler on dress code which was based on color and fabric of dress. Women of Lower status wore dress made of wool, lenin and shipskin as they were cheap and easily available but the upper class women wore expensive costumes made of extravagant fabrics like Velvet, Silk, Brocades, Damask and usually decorated with expensive gems, stones and metals.
During Middle Ages women had to wear many layers of medieval Clothing, only to complete a single gown attire they wore 5 different dresses that were consist of underskirt, skirt, bodice, vests and collar. During the late renaissance era high-waisted gown changes to a gown with tight waistline corset and bodice became tighter. These changes were made to give more emphasize on famine features.
The changes that occurred in the late renaissance era still have huge impact on Modern day’s fashion world. Comparatively tight corset and bodice are comfortable and easy to put on. Gowns with full length skirt are still favored. Renaissance festivals has come up collection of women’s medieval costumes that shows changes during later period of medieval history. For easy viewing they are categorized into Medieval Blouse, costumes dresses, medieval Chemise and bodice, Skirts and Pants, Pirate Shirts, Cloaks and Capes, Coats and Vests and Complete Grab Set.
